Modern Messaging Solution for Law Enforcement
MessengerNow is OpenFox’s award-winning browser-based communication platform designed specifically for law enforcement professionals. Built on the foundation of the trusted OpenFox environment, MessengerNow allows agencies to send, receive, and manage criminal justice transactions securely, quickly, and intuitively.
This user-friendly web application enables field officers, dispatchers, and agency IT professionals to access data in real time. It supports image and file attachments, integrates with national codes and databases, and maintains full compliance with FBI CJIS Security Policy.
MessengerNow prioritizes long-term operational stability. Its intuitive, email-style interface reduces training time, simplifies communication, and supports agencies that operate with limited training resources or high personnel turnover.
CJIS-Compliant File and Image Sharing
MessengerNow enables criminal justice professionals to securely send and receive CJIS-sensitive content, such as driver’s license photos, mugshots, and arrest warrants, as part of their daily workflow. Unlike traditional email systems, it provides full encryption both in transit and once received, with inline image viewing and easy save or print options.
Automated Message Casting for Faster Workflows
MessengerNow includes a powerful feature called message casting, which allows users to initiate follow-up transactions directly from a received message. This streamlines response times, reduces manual entry, minimizes procedural errors, and supports faster, more accurate decision-making in mission-critical situations.
Streamlined Messaging with Templates and Favorite Forms
MessengerNow enhances efficiency with Drafts, Templates, and Favorites—tools that let users save in-progress forms, reuse structured submissions, and quickly access commonly used queries. Templates are ideal for recurring claims or repetitive reports, while Favorite Forms simplify high-frequency transactions.
Mobile-Friendly and Accessible Messaging Platform
MessengerNow provides a consistent user experience across mobile phones, tablets, desktops, and laptops—keeping criminal justice professionals connected whether in the field or at the office. Fully compliant with Section 508 and WCAG VPAT 2020 standards, the platform is inclusive and accessible for all staff, including those using adaptive equipment.

How MessengerNow Works in the Field
MessengerNow is built on the OpenFox Web Application Framework and uses modern front-end technologies such as HTML, SCSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript. It supports asynchronous communication through HTTP and Server-Sent Events (SSE), allowing the system to respond to new data in real time without constant user refresh.
Messages and transaction data are processed through a secure connection using the OpenFox FoxTalk protocol, which translates frontend inputs into structured XML messages routed through the OpenFox Message Switch.
This architecture ensures MessengerNow fits seamlessly into existing OpenFox environments while meeting modern expectations for reliability, responsiveness, and security.
